Pastel
ball pythons are marked by high yellow and sometimes
orange coloration. The brown tones in pastels are often
absent. The dark areas of pattern are often highlighted
by blushing spots where the dark pigment appears faded.
Pastel ball pythons also show a patternless belly and
light eyes. The pastel trait is a co-dominant one. This
means that when a pastel is bred to a normal ball python,
half of the offspring should show the pastel trait in
the first generation. If two pastels are bred, it is
possible to produce a super pastel.
Pastels are a great morph to work with because you can
see results in the first generation of offspring. Choose
your founding stock wisely; you want to produce nice
clean pastels.
I produced hypomelanistic pasteIs in 2004 - they are
STUNNING!!!!! A hypomelanistic super pastel is going
to be an awesome snake. I plan on mixing the pastel
mutation with brown backs, caramels, piebalds, axanthics
and spiders. |
