Sables
are slightly hypermelanistic. This increase in melanin
gives a dark wash without making them completely black.
Rather it appears as if their darker colors have been
tweaked just a bit. Lateral brown pattern often contains
black flecking which can create a granite type pattern.
The dorsal pattern is fairly typical however some specimens
may have faint blushing spots in the black pattern.
These blushing spots may fade to auburn color at maturity.
Light flecking is present on the belly.
I acquired my sable stock from Raul Gomez. His founding
sable is unique and has produced some really nice offspring
including some super sables. The super sable is a nice
dark mutation that opens the door to many new morph
combinations.
