This
is one of my favorite snakes. He has a few characteristics
that set him apart from a normal striped ball python.
This male is an overall dark animal, with a broken stripe
running down his back and irregular side patterns. His
belly is sooty, similar to a hypermelanistic ball python.
In addition to the large ringer spot, he has three more
pure white spots on his belly.
I’m not crazy about the name “Striped Ringer”,
but after all, he is an animal with a broken stripe
and is a decent ringer, so the name just stuck. I do
feel that this snake’s pattern will prove to be
genetic so I guess I wait until I see his homozygous
offspring to give this morph a name. I am not sure if
his white ringer spots will be passed on with his funky
pattern but time will tell.
I have produced “heterozygous” offspring
from this male in previous years and hope to prove this
morph in the near future. I think this morph will be
amazing when crossed with albino, caramel albino, and
hypomelanistic morphs. |
